Hurghada is a year-round destination, but the experience changes significantly with the seasons. Here is what to expect.
October to April (Peak Season)
Air temperatures between 22 and 28°C, water around 23 to 25°C. Almost no rain. This is when European visitors escape their winters. Book at least two weeks ahead for the December to February window.
May to June and September (Shoulder)
The best value window. Air is 28 to 34°C, water 26 to 28°C. The European school holidays have not started, so boats and islands are quieter. Visibility for snorkeling is at its annual peak.
July to August (Hot)
Air 35 to 42°C, water 29 to 30°C. Europeans are on holiday, so prices stay high and boats are full. The early morning departures (we run 7 am and 8 am) are essential — by 11 am the heat is oppressive.
Sea Conditions by Season
Calmest water: April to June and September to October. Most wind: December to February (occasionally trips cancelled for swell). Best underwater visibility: May to September (less plankton).
For Dolphin Watching
Spinners are present year-round, but they are most active in calmer conditions. Book a morning trip in May, June, September, or October for the best chance of large pods.
For Romantic Trips
Sunset cruises are best from October to March, when the sun sets at a low angle and the colors last 20+ minutes. In summer, the sun sets fast and vertically.
