When booking a boat trip in Hurghada, the first decision is often speedboat versus yacht. Both can reach the same islands and snorkeling spots, but the experience is very different.
Speedboat: Thrill and Efficiency
A private speedboat is fast, nimble, and gets you there before the crowds. You cover the same distance in a third of the time, meaning more time snorkeling or on the island. The ride itself is part of the experience โ the wind, the spray, the feeling of speed across open water. Speedboats can access smaller coves and sandbars that larger yachts cannot reach. Maximum 6 to 8 guests per boat, making it ideal for private groups.
Yacht: Space and Comfort
A yacht offers more deck space, indoor seating, a proper bathroom, and a slower, more stable ride. It is better for larger groups (10 to 20 people) and for anyone who gets motion sick. The trade-off is speed โ a yacht takes 40 to 60 minutes to reach Orange Bay versus 20 minutes in a speedboat. Yachts also cannot access the shallow sandbars and narrow coves.
Which Should You Book?
Choose a speedboat if: you want privacy, you are a group of 2 to 6 people, you want more time on the water and less time travelling, or you are looking for an adventurous experience. Choose a yacht if: you have a larger group (8+), you prioritize comfort over speed, or someone in your group is prone to seasickness.
Our Recommendation
For most visitors, a private speedboat offers the best balance of value, privacy, and experience. You arrive at the island while the yachts are still halfway there, and you can customize your route on the fly. All our tours use modern speedboats with cushioned seating, shade canopies, and Bluetooth sound systems.
