Giftun Island National Park โ Complete Guide
A protected marine reserve off the coast of Hurghada, home to Orange Bay, Eden Island, and the Red Sea's most pristine coral reefs.
Giftun Island National Park (also known as Giftun National Park or simply "The Giftuns") is a protected marine reserve located approximately 20 kilometers offshore from Hurghada. Established to preserve the Red Sea's fragile coral reef ecosystems, the park covers an area of over 500 square kilometers and includes several small islands, extensive coral gardens, and the famous dolphin habitats of "Dolphin House."
The park is home to three main island destinations accessible by speedboat from Hurghada: Orange Bay (the most developed and most photographed), Eden Island (quieter, best snorkeling), and the main Giftun Island itself (the largest, with untouched beaches on its north side). All are protected under Egyptian environmental law, which means no construction, no fishing, and strict visitor guidelines to preserve the marine ecosystem.
The waters surrounding the Giftun Islands are among the clearest in the Red Sea, with visibility frequently exceeding 25 meters. The park is home to over 200 species of coral and 500 species of fish, including angelfish, parrotfish, butterflyfish, groupers, and seasonal sightings of sea turtles, rays, and reef sharks. Dolphin House, located within the park, is the area's most reliable spot for spinner dolphin sightings.

Can I visit multiple islands in one trip?
Yes! Our Custom Private Charter allows you to design your own itinerary and visit up to four destinations in one trip. You can combine Dolphin House, Orange Bay, Eden Island, and a snorkeling stop โ or any combination you prefer. Contact us on WhatsApp with your wish list and we will plan the perfect route.
Do I need to pay an entry fee for the national park?
Yes, all visitors to Giftun Island National Park pay an environmental protection fee of approximately โฌ5 per person. This fee goes directly toward conservation efforts and park maintenance. It is typically collected by the island management upon arrival.
What is the best time to visit the Giftun Islands?
The best time for calm seas and excellent visibility is April through October. Morning departures (8 am to 9 am) offer the calmest water conditions and the best light for photography. The islands are busiest from 10 am to 2 pm, so an early start helps you avoid the crowds.
Are there restrictions on what I can bring?
Reef-safe sunscreen is required โ regular sunscreen damages the coral. Glass bottles are not permitted on the islands. Single-use plastics are discouraged. You are welcome to bring your own snorkel mask if you prefer, though we provide high-quality equipment at no extra cost.
